Our Philosophy

Being Aware - Taking Positive Action.

It is Buckminster Fuller who said “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

Of course, that also implies that there is some reality that we believe needs to changed, or obsoleted.

Some other people will say that by looking at "negative" things, we will create more of them, or waste our energy on them.  Some others will merely put their heads in the sand and ignore quite obvious changes that are happening to our planet.

And others will say "everything is perfect" and are blinded by economics and money.  They can't see, for example, that "fracking" the planet is really the same as allowing someone to pour poison into their water tank, and thus poisoning their partner, children and animals. Sometimes, we need to say a big NO.

Some 80 people living in the Southern area of New South Wales have said clearly that we believe climate change is happening, and we are working positively to find solutions to many problems that we see about to come to us - probably in less that ten years.  We will work diligently to find solutions to problems such as Food, Health, Energy, Transport, Governance and other situations.

Although we are a small group now: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

Hope.

"TO BE HOPEFUL in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.

What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction.

And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvellous victory."
